Micro-needling is a process called collagen induction therapy (CIT). CIT is the skin’s own ability to repair itself. By using the microneedling device, you are treating yourself to CIT and creating controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process by making deliberate micro injuries to the skin. This then creates and triggers the release of growth factors for the production of new collagen and elastin, which what we lose as we age. The Dr Pen Auto Microneedle System is a non-invasive treatment which gives your skin that glow you’re looking for. Microneedling targets fine lines, wrinkles, texture, stretch marks, loss of tone and elasticity, enlarged pores, acne scarring and pigmentation.

Light that treats various skin conditions and concerns, such as acne, fine lines, reducing inflammation and improving psoriasis.
Blue LED Light – The bio pen Blue light therapy mode uses light to treat certain conditions on or just under the skin. It’s considered a pain-free procedure. Use the blue light to improve skin texture and reduce sebaceous hyperplasia, enlarged oil glands. It can help with removing sun spots, acne, and even scars that were originally caused by acne. Red LED Light – Use the bio pen red light setting to help improve signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles, reduce inflammation and promote skin regeneration for skin issues like psoriasis.
WHY CHOOSE THIS TREATMENT?
As we grow older, the cycle of new skin growth slows and less collagen and elastin are produced.
This results in fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots (pigmentation).
Applying creams and serums on your face may succeed to moisturise the outer layer of dead skin, but no penetration takes place to the living part of the skin. The active molecules are simply too big to pass through the ultra protective epidermis layer.
Microneedling creates "micro-channels" which allow for deeper penetration of serums and ingredients results in higher efficacy, meaning you get more out of treatment serums than usual.
When the microneedling device moves over the skin, it creates a “micro-channel” which is why it's recommended it’s used with a serum of your choice such as hyaluronic acid or EGF. These micro injuries also trigger the body’s natural healing process to create the appearance of fresher, newer looking skin.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure thats used to treat skin concerns via collagen production. Also known as ‘Collagen Induction Therapy’, this treatment may help those looking to reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. It is used in many anti-ageing procedures and sun spots; Micro needling is also good in promoting hair growth.
WHO IS MICRONEEDLING SUITABLE FOR?
Dull skin: Rejuvenate tired and dull skin and combat the initial signs of ageing.
Wrinkles: Fine lines and wrinkles on the face can be visibly reduced, as microneedling triggers collagen production.
Scarring: Scars from acne and Chicken Pox can be improved and an uneven texture can be smoothed out with microneedling.
Pigmentation: Can help to fade dark patches such as pigmentation due to sun damage or ageing. Microneedling is a great treatment for you if you have darker skin because it doesn’t involve peels or lasers, which can cause pigmentation issues.
Alopecia: Hair loss

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS OF MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling in minimally invasive, it doesn’t require active downtime, meaning you won’t have to take time off from work.
After micro-needling, skin redness is common - and this may last for several days. For this reason, you’ll want to ensure plenty of time between microneedling and any important events you may have scheduled.
Protect your skin from the sun during this time, you should also take extra care to protect your skin from the sun, as microneedling can make your skin more photosensitive. Any sun exposure without adequate sunscreen can increase your risk of developing hyperpigmentation, so ensure to always wear a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 50+, and ideally a mineral-based sunscreen.
YOUR MICRONEEDLING CONSULTATION: WHAT TO EXPECT
I will assess your condition and determine the most appropriate form of treatment. During your consultation I will be able to answer any questions you may have about your skin condition and give you personalised advice.
If I decide your skin condition can be treated, then I will be able to carry out the procedure.
The needle tip will be adjusted after a full consultation to determine the best depth of needling to your individual needs. To make the procedure comfortable, a topical anaesthetic will be used to help numb the area before treatment.
A clinicare serum will be used with the treatment, combined with a CLINICCARE mesotherapy cocktail for an enhanced and more targeted treatment.
CLINICCARE mesotherapy cocktails are available in Glow (for hyperpigmentation), Tight (for lifting and anti-ageing) and Refresh (for skin rejuvenation and hydration).
The treatment is usually completed in around 20 minutes and then a hyaluronic acid facial mask is applied for around 15 minutes so key ingredients can easily penetrate into the skin and will also provide a refreshing cooling experience.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE RECOMMENDED?
The number of sessions required will depend on the initial skin condition and anticipated procedure result.
Skin Needling treatments can be repeated without limit every six to eight weeks and a course of three sessions is usually sufficient.
The six to eight week interval between each session allows for maximum new collagen deposition and gives me the opportunity to accurately assess the single treatment results.
Collagen formation can continue for up to 12 months after just one treatment.
[Example course of treatment: Ageing skin, lines and wrinkles, skin tone, texture. Once every 3-6 weeks during a 3-6 month period. Then a course of 3 treatments every 6-12 months after the first course of treatment]
I recommend having a single session every six months to a year after your initial treatment for maintenance and longer lasting results.
PRECAUTIONS:
Microneedling is contraindicated if you experience any of the following:
Active acne
Herpes labialis (cold sores) or any other local infection such as warts.
You’re a patient undergoing chemotherapy or radiation.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The price will depend on the area being treated, the treatment required and the number of treatments required. Typically a singular session will cost £185 with additional areas from £75.
